I’m connected to the land, it’s in my blood.

I truly cherish spending time outdoors surrounded by the beauty of nature. Whenever possible, I make it a point to immerse myself in the wonders of the great outdoors. Engaging in outdoor exploration never fails to present me with challenges, new discoveries, and peace.

Let’s start with back home.

I started taking photographs as a child, but I didn’t get to keep anything from my childhood. What I did keep from my childhood, was my sense of adventure and taking risks.

Where my family come from in Jamaica, we grow a lot of yam, we grow a lot of other food but yam is the main crop. Being in nature reminds me of being with my grandfather, as he explained our connection to the land. I don’t farm like some of my other family members but I love being outdoors.

It doesn’t matter Where.

My earliest memories have always been closely intertwined with nature. I find solace and joy in the simplest of moments spent outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of the world around me. However, my happiest and most cherished memories undoubtedly revolve around my grandfather. As a farmer, upon immigrating to England, he transitioned to working in a foundry, showcasing resilience and adaptability in the face of change. His presence in my life has left an indelible mark, shaping my perspective and instilling in me values that continue to guide me on my journey.

It all begins with an idea.

Understanding the ground.

He would passionately discuss a wide array of plants and flowers, emphasising our deep connection to the earth and the importance of always treating it with reverence. Over time, his words evolved into cherished tales, for the generations, becoming a vital part of our folklore.

Working in nature is a serene and reflective experience, akin to cherishing moments with him as if he were still present among us. Through these tranquil moments, I've come to realize that his essence continues to thrive within me and my children, much like how nature perpetually rejuvenates itself, ensuring his everlasting legacy is woven into the tapestry of our lives.

It all begins with an idea

So the land definitely has to be diligently worked, but it should never be mistreated or neglected. Just like a fertile woman, you must tenderly impregnate the earth with care and nurturing to bring forth her abundant fruits. Through this respectful relationship, the cycle of life can begin anew once again.

It’s quite incredible to think that my grandfather loved the land with the same intensity and passion that he loved women; he always expressed the profound need to take care of what you have and to spend quality time nurturing it.

Photography has the same profound impact on me, evoking emotions and memories, and I understand that to truly appreciate beauty, you must spend quality time with, and fully immerse yourself in, the places you love.

You’re probably a bit bored of hearing about my deep love for the great outdoors, but truthfully, this is where my true inspiration truly originates. The profound silence, the vibrant life, and the fascinating things you discover in every single place all contribute to this feeling. It’s about appreciating the cycles of life that unfold with each passing night and day, showcasing nature's endless wonders.

I have several bigger projects planned for the near future, including a captivating story-based series that delves into themes surrounding fantasy and myth.

I want to expand on my creative projects by incorporating a variety of unique locations, as well as distinctive costumes that truly reflect the theme of the shoot. Additionally, I am interested in integrating special effects makeup to enhance the overall visual impact and storytelling aspect of each session. This combination will surely elevate my work and provide a more engaging experience for everyone involved.
