This work exists in a space that institutions are not yet willing to occupy with consistency, and that commercial platforms are designed to suppress. The erotic body, treated with the rigour it deserves—as a site of formal complexity, psychological depth, and aesthetic consequence—has always required direct patronage to survive. Not because it lacks merit, but because it refuses to accommodate itself to the comfort of the market.

This is not a new problem. It is the condition under which the most vital art has always been made.

The structure below is not a subscription in the modern, flattened sense—a recurring charge in exchange for content. It is a compact. You are not buying access to a feed. You are entering a relationship with a practice and receiving, in return, work that would not otherwise reach you—or, in some cases, would not otherwise be made at all.

Every tier receives something real: objects, correspondence, proximity to the working process. The tiers are calibrated so that the commitment at each level corresponds to the intimacy of what is shared.

If this language speaks to you more than the work does, this is not the right arrangement. Support the work because you have looked at it and found it necessary. Because you want it to exist in the world more than you want the monthly amount in your account. Because you understand that patronage is not generosity—it is the price of living in a culture that produces art worth looking at.

THE PERMANENT COLLECTION

A Structure for Patronage

The following is not a subscription. It is a compact between the artist and the collector—a mutual recognition that work of this intensity requires, and has always required, the direct support of those who understand its necessity.

Tier I: Witness £30 / month

A witness does not merely look. A witness agrees to be present—to receive what is made and to hold it.

You receive:

  • Monthly private dispatch — A single image delivered to you before it reaches any public audience, accompanied by a brief text on its making: the formal problem, the constraint, the accident that became the frame. This is not content. It is a record of thinking.

  • First access — When new limited editions are released, Witnesses are notified 48 hours before any public announcement. Most editions will sell out in this window.

  • The annual folio — Once a year, a curated PDF portfolio of 12–15 images, sequenced as a narrative, designed for screen viewing. Not a gallery of thumbnails—a work unto itself.

The Witness tier is the foundation. It is the most essential tier, because it is the one that proves an audience exists for this work before any institution has validated it.

Tier II: Confidant £250 / month

A confidant is admitted further in. They receive not just the work, but the process—the evidence of the hand and the hesitation before the decisive moment.

You receive everything in Witness, plus:

  • MontQuarterly proof print — Every three months, a signed 11×14 archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, shipped to you. These are selected by the artist from the current body of work and are open-edition—the same image may be sent to multiple Confidants. What makes them distinct is that they exist in your hands, on that paper, with that signature. They are real.

  • Video work access — Full private access to all experimental video narratives as they are completed, via password-protected streaming. These works are not publicly released until the artist determines the moment is right, if ever. You see them first.

  • Studio correspondence — Quarterly letter (physical, mailed) from the studio—notes on what is being pursued, what has failed, what is being reconsidered. Not a newsletter. A letter. Addressed to you.

The Confidant tier is for those who understand that the relationship between an artist and their supporters is not transactional in the reductive sense—it is collaborative. The work would not exist in its current form without the knowledge that it is being received by someone who takes it seriously.

Tier III: Patron £600 / month

Patronage is an old word and an exact one. A patron does not consume. A patron makes possible. This tier exists for those who wish to enter the architecture of the work itself—to have a hand, however indirect, in what comes into existence.

You receive everything in Confidant, plus:

  • Annual limited edition print — Once a year, a signed and numbered print in an edition of no more than 15, on heavy archival paper, at a size of 16×20 or larger. The image will not be printed at this size in this edition again. This is a collectible object. It will appreciate in value as the edition sells out and the artist's catalog rises.

  • First option on all new limited editions — Before any edition is publicly offered, Patrons have 72 hours to claim a print at the pre-release price, which will always be below the public release price.

  • Annual studio visit — A private, one-hour studio visit (in-person where geography allows, or by video call) to view work in progress, discuss the practice, and see what is not yet ready for eyes outside the studio. This is not a performance. It is an invitation into the working space.

  • Acknowledgment — If desired, your name (or a designation of your choosing) will be listed as Patron in any future exhibition catalogues, monographs, or published collections of the work. This is optional. Some patrons prefer anonymity. Either is respected.

  • Or Collaboration or Support

The Patron tier is the closest relationship possible between an artist and a supporter without entering the territory of commission. It is how work that refuses to dilute itself survives. Every major body of difficult, uncompromising work in the history of art—from Caravaggio to Mapplethorpe—was sustained by individuals who decided, often against the consensus of their moment, that the work mattered.

  • Current patronage funds: studio rental, archival printing materials, travel, equipment, exhibitions and the maintenance of an independent server for the permanent archive.
